Care of Your Lab

Labs are not real bad shedders, but you will notice hair loss as the seasons change. Usually a good brushing once a week will keep their coat shiny and soft. Clipping toenails is something you will want to do and a canine nail clipper is readily available in any pet store, your vet or breeder can show you the best way to clip nails. If your best friend gets dusty or muddy simply take the hose to them ( they will love that) and when dry just brush them out. A Lab’s coat has some magical property that helps them stay clean ( now if we could only figure that out for our vehicles….). When they start to smell bad that is the time for a full blown bath with shampoo, you must be careful of too much shampooing as it will remove the natural oils in you Lab’s coat. It’s those oils that help keep his coat clean and dry, generally Labs are low maintenance.
