What’s Going On (Newsletter 04/08)
Well, we have
been really busy here, and so have the dogs! We are
expecting three litters this spring. We hope Amber, Molly
and Maggie are all bred to Doc, of the three we are only
sure of Maggie. Amber should be starting to show, but is not
yet, she is a big dog and doesn’t show until about 5 weeks.
If she is bred, it will be Molly’s first litter, ( 2nd
estrus cycle) sometimes they can be slow starters, a few
more weeks will confirm her pregnancy.
We are
expecting a complete mixture of color from these breedings.
For those interested in how Labs become a black, yellow or
chocolate, there is an explanation on our new website (more
on that later)
http://www.labradorslive.com/LabsBreeding.htm.
The pups we
kept from Amber’s litter last fall Wiley and Gretchen, are
beautiful, with wonderful dispositions. They have started
formal training and are doing well. You may want to follow
along with our training schedule and methods, I try to
update our forum at
http://www.oregonlabrador.com/forum/default.asp
every few days.
Those of you that purchased pups last fall/winter
will find that now is a great time to start their obedience
training.
So, you’ve seen
all these new links, let me explain. We wanted to keep our
Alderwood Labradors website dedicated to breeding and
scheduling of pups. However, we also wanted to provide an
informational site for people who love Labradors, a site
that would provide lots of supportive information to help
raise, train and enjoy your Lab. You will find all kinds of
info there already, and more is being added. In addition, we
are using that site as an outlet for our Labrador pictures,
from 4x6 all the way up to poster size. A gift shop will
include mugs, tee-shirts, place mats, puzzles, greeting
cards, notepads, all with a Labrador theme you can find it
at

New Additions
In an effort to
diversify selection at Alderwood, we have added
“Bo”. He comes to us from a kennel dispersion in Georgia
where he was a favorite. Both parents and grandparents carry
strong pedigree and heavy champion heritage. We are excited
from a breeding standpoint as well as a companion
hunter/retriever for Doc, more to come as his training
progresses.
